About Brands

Why are there no well known brands on the site?
Sealy, Silentnight, Pocket Spring Bed Company, Rest Assured, and Layezee Beds.

Very good brands, years of experience in the manufacture of mattresses. Plenty of outlets selling these products with vast advertising material telling you how good and beneficial these mattresses are. But, what are you paying for?

Firstly, not many people know that ALL the above brands belong to one company – The Silentnight Group Ltd. Now. How many more mattress manufacturers can you mention? See here for others

Always Remember. There are well over a hundred UK mattress manufacturers out there. Some are very good, some are good and some are very bad. Most of these independent manufacturers, you will not have heard of.. but, it’s highly likely a good proportion of them manufacture mattresses for ALL High Street names. The label is changed of course which means you never get to see who these companies are  even though you may actually love the product – you only see the sellers name taking the credit.

These independent manufacturers all have their own ‘Brands’ but usually have very little resource in promoting them so you rarely get to know who they are. Even so, buying a mattress purely based on a brand name is ludicrous.

Also, many (if not all) major manufacturers produce mattresses that are NOT FOR SALE ON/VIA THE INTERNET. These are supplied to shops only and the only plausible reason for this, is that it prevents you from doing any kind of online price or quality comparisons. You do not have to be a genius to realise that all mattresses are constructed in pretty much the same way no matter whose name is on the label. And surely, there can only be so many combinations of materials inside … so why do mattress prices differ so much?

Silentnight have over 170 different models – Sealy have well over 100 different models – and so on. There is simply no possible way that they can all be different EXCEPT for the fact that they have a different fabric, name and finish. Why?

The practice of offering hundreds of models with the same internal components is annoyingly pointless and confusing for the customer. My method just offers the absolute best of the bunch at the lowest prices. For example, I could quite easily offer hundreds of mattresses under £200 from many manufacturers leaving you to decide (gamble) which is the best one. I don’t work like this. I know my stuff and have personally selected the best ones within certain price ranges and it is only these that are offered on this site.

Keep in mind,  Mattress manufacturers (in most cases) do not manufacture their own springs, or foam layers, or waddings, or fabrics and so on. These component parts are supplied from a number of specialist component manufacturers .. in different grades .. and then assembled on site in their thousands.

As a closing point, have you ever wondered why all national bed superstores predominantly  stock the  same well known brands when there are so many equally or better lesser known manufacturers to choose from? If I was a manufacturer of ‘Brand X’ I would ensure that these big retailers gave my products prominent sales positions by offering them all sorts of incentives for doing so. I’m not saying that this actually does happen though, but it does make me wonder.
