BRIEF: We have added this model to our site to show you that if you are looking at memory Foam mattresses we can offer a far superior latex model for a comparable – if not lower price. This is also the model whereby you can break away from polyester as a primary comfort layer.
PRIMARY LAYERS: The main component is 6cm of white talalay latex with an additional one inch layer of Reflex® foam as insulator above the spring unit to aid longevity and add to the comfort. We also add a layer of 300 gsm wool silk blend directly beneath the fabric to act as a cushioning component.
LATEX SOURCE: LATEXCO: This is one of three major and prominent latex producers for this country. The others being Radium Foam (Vita) and Latex International.
Latexco is also is the manufacturer of Innergetic Latex (Secret Blend!) and is supplier to many of the well known manufacturers of Latex mattresses. We have absolutely no reason to doubt that this product far exceeds many latex mattresses currently on the market today.
Note 1: ALL latex used as a mattress component in this country will be a blend of Natural Latex and Synthetic Latex. Latex that is described as 100% Natural can legally be a 85/15 blend. 40/60 is in common usage. Other blends will be 60/40 or 50/50 or as low as 20/80. The latex used in ALL Dunlopillo mattresses will be a blend of sorts.
Note 2: All latex used in this country MUST be Fire Retardant (FR) by law and has to pass BS 5852 source 2 test. Latexco have a patented FR finish (Oeko Tex standard 100) which is applied rather than included. The other FR option would be to have Graphite included (rather than applied) but this does have an impact on how the latex feels as it constitutes up to 30% of the weight per 100kg . An applied FR keeps the product pure.
Note 3: Synthetic latex is a premium product in itself. A general mix of Styrene and Butadiene. More Styrene in the blend makes the finished product firmer – More Butadiene in the blend makes it softer.
As Natural latex is an extremely soft product the inclusion of a well blended synthetic latex gives the finished product a more adaptive overall feel i.e. Not too firm and not too soft.
The Latex we use in this product is a 60/40 blend with FR applied and therefore retains the white colour and natural texture.
FIRST LAYER: One inch HD Foam: directly on top of the spring unit (as the insulator). This is a more forgiving component which moves with the spring unit.
SECOND LAYER: 3cm White Talalay 60/40 Latex:
THIRD LAYER: 3cm White Talalay 60/40 Latex: Having two layers of latex is fundamentally better than using one layer of 6cm depth.
FOURTH LAYER: 300 gsm Wool Silk blend pad: directly beneath the fabric which gives a slight cushion on top of the latex.
GSM: Latex is not measured by GSM but by depth and blend. The crucial aspects for comparison of this particular product is 6cm latex – 60/40 Blend.

TURN: This is a one sided mattress. The non sleep side also has an additional one inch layer of reflex foam as cushioning for your bed base.

The surface is micro quilted with a soft knit fabric providing a flat and comfortable sleep surface. Detailed with three rows machine side stitching.

BASE: The base is 12″ depth plus 2″ for Castors. This has been built to a higher than average spec, sprung edged as standard using open coils and upholstered in a basketweave fabric in either Cream / Beige / Chocolate. This is not available in a matching fabric to the mattress. Please indicate which colour you prefer when ordering.
This is the same base construction as we use for our Artisan Tailored Pocket and Artisan Naturals model.
We can also accommodate various base height options on request such as 6 inch base with 6 inch legs for example. Some variations may incur an additional charge.
SUMMARY:
We have spent many months sourcing the best latex we can possibly find in order to retail this mattress at this particularly low price point. The secrecy behind Latex as a product means we are unable to tell you if this is the same latex as used by Dunlopillo (market leader) or not. We have an inkling it is.
We have placed 6cm of latex in this particular product and that is well above the norm. When doing comparisons from ANY manufacturer the only aspects for adequate comparison will be the type and depth of latex actually used and in our research we have found that many manufacturers will not tell you these simple but most fundamental details !!
